Hatano Farm, the last remnant of a rich Japanese American agricultural legacy on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, is officially a state historic site. The nine-member California State Historical Resources Commission unanimously voted on Friday, Jan. 20, to designate Hatano Farm, which operated in Rancho Palos Verdes from the early 1950s to last year, as a California Point of Historical Interest and to list it on the California Register of Historical Resources. 'This is very important to our community,' RPV Deputy City Manager Karina BaƱales said during the meeting, before pivoting to the farm's founder, James Hatano.
