Rancho Palos Verdes will soon form a nonprofit to promote philanthropy — in an effort to fund various projects around the city. The City Council recently voted to name the new nonprofit the RPV Community Foundation and the panel will serve as its board of directors. The donor program will 'stimulate philanthropic' giving and support projects such as building a new city hall, improving roads, street median beautification, tree removal and more, according to a staff report. 'The purpose of the program (is) to encourage public and private partnerships,' Deputy City Manager Karina Bañales said at the council meeting earlier this month, and the opportunity to enhance and advance projects that the city may not necessarily have the resources to begin immediately.
