The hits have kept coming for a Los Angeles County Beaches & Harbors truck that was buried in early December during a landslide in Palos Verdes Estates — with the vehicle being set on fire and subsequently towed away this week. How the fire began — or who started it and why — wasn't immediately known. When a 200-foot section of the hillside cascaded onto a portion of Torrance Beach on Dec. 9, causing evacuations and a local emergency declaration the following day, the maintenance vehicle was buried and considered 'inoperable,' according to Carol Baker, a deputy director with Department of Beaches and Harbors.
